Parents are welcome to play too, as a “guest,” with students as they earn points. Most students know their login and password, but if not, ask your child’s teacher. We spend time in computer class using this site too!
     DES WEBSITE! There is an endless amount of information on the DES website that began last year. Up-to-date events, reminders and schedules are always. Among the many student pictures, you will also find curriculum, points of pride, school business, contact information, lunch menus, medical information……….EVERYTHING!      For those of you wondering how to keep on top of your child’s reading progress (even through the summer), the solution is bookadventure.com. The supplemental Accelerated Reading system that we have at Dundee is wonderful, and the kids have welcomed the charm system for a reward and motivation, but you can’t take AR tests at home, and we’re limited to what we’ve purchased at school. Bookadventure.com is the answer! It’s very similar to AR because there are tests on books that assess vocabulary and comprehension. If you would like your child to continue their progress, this is a great option. Try it…………….it certainly can’t hurt! 
     Dundee Elementary has been fortunate to have standard-based assessments which aide the teachers and support staff in giving every one of our students what they need when it comes to reading and math. Reading has been a focus for many years now, but recent math needs have required our school to look more specifically into what we can do to better up math skills.
Because some of our testing is computer-based, the students will again be using some computer time to dazzle us with their third trimester knowledge. The data acquired from these tests is very useful when looking at things like teaching strategies, student grouping, Title 1 assistance, and NOW placement in the next grade level.
